About Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble (BTE)

Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble is a cornerstone of the Northeastern Pennsylvania regional arts scene, providing a diverse repertoire of classical plays, contemporary works, and original productions in a small, rural area. We strive to be a thriving center of community and cultural engagement through theatre and arts education, promoting creativity, inclusion and dignity.  BTE emerged during a time when our founding ensemble members, driven by a shared passion for artistic expression, sought to establish a creative haven that would provide an alternative to the top-down structure of the regional theatre world. BTE’s legacy is rooted in the belief that theatre serves as a catalyst for social change and that the emotional resonance of creative performance allows us to forge deep connections with the community where we live and whom we serve. Join The Season 47 Staff Team

This is an exciting time to join BTE. In the wake of BTE’s last founding ensemble member’s retirement, along with a series of post-pandemic challenges, BTE is on the precipice of transformation. We are rebuilding our staff team as we grow towards our 50th anniversary season (2027-28). New employees will be part of envisioning BTE’s future and reshaping our organizational structure to become more sustainable and equitable. Given that we are in the midst of implementing major changes, the ideal BTE candidate will bring a spirit of flexibility, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking to the team.

Salary, Benefits and Contract Details

BTE currently operates on a policy of pay parity to equitably value each person’s work and role within the company. Full-time employees (40 hours per week) receive equal monetary compensation at $33,000 per year. Due to budgetary limitations, we do not offer health insurance or retirement benefits at this time. We hope to increase salaries and benefits in the years to come as part of a major fundraising campaign.
BTE strives to create a working environment that promotes wellness and allows staff members to pursue their passions inside and outside of the workplace. New employees receive 10 personal vacation days, 9 sick days, and 2 personal days. In addition, BTE is closed on 10 federal holidays and will build in intentional rest periods between peak production times.

All artistic and administrative staff members are invited to provide input in the Ensemble’s creative decisions. They can also access rehearsal space (during off-peak hours), production inventories, and receive ongoing professional development and support for personal creative endeavors.

For candidates relocating to Bloomsburg, the BTE staff and board will leverage its networks to assist staff with securing housing. The ability to work from home depends on the duties and requirements of each position.

We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions of the job. If you require any accommodations during the application process, please contact jobs@bte.org.
